Product Overview
This attachment combines two jobs in one boom-mounted unit. A horizontal rotating drum, lined with cutting teeth, chews through brush and woody vegetation and reduces it to mulch. Above the drum, a hydraulic thumb opens and closes to grab branches, pin material against the drum for more controlled processing, or lift and move finished mulch to a pile or truck. For jobs that call for both cutting and material handling, this setup eliminates the need to switch between a mulcher and a separate grapple.
As part of the TGEC excavator mulchers lineup, this thumb-equipped drum mulcher comes in four widths, each matched to a specific excavator weight class from 3 to 30 tons. The three smallest models are standard production units, while the largest—TG-M10—is fully customizable to suit particular carriers and work sites. If your work is mostly high‑volume, straight‑ahead clearing, the forestry mulcher might be a better fit. For jobs centered on felling standing timber, take a look at the disc mulcher.

Excavator Compatibility Guidance
Choosing the right model starts with your excavator's operating weight and hydraulic capacity. The TG-M02 is built for 3–5 ton machines and needs 30–60 L/min (7.9–15.9 GPM). The TG-M04 (5–9 ton) and TG-M06 (9–15 ton) both run on 50–100 L/min (13.2–26.4 GPM). The TG-M10 handles 15–30 ton carriers with 100–200 L/min (26.4–52.8 GPM) and offers full customization.
Since the thumb needs its own hydraulic function, make sure your excavator has an extra auxiliary circuit available for thumb operation—on top of the circuit for drum rotation. A case drain line is usually required as well. Also verify mounting bracket geometry, pin spacing, quick‑coupler compatibility, and boom lift capacity at your typical working radius before ordering. Working Principle
The attachment pins to your excavator boom and ties into two hydraulic circuits: one for drum rotation and one for thumb operation. As the drum spins, its cutting teeth shear and grind brush and woody material into mulch that drops out below the housing. The hydraulic thumb, mounted above the drum, can be closed to grip branches or debris, hold material steady against the drum for more controlled mulching, or lift and move processed material to a pile or truck.
This dual‑purpose design cuts downtime on mixed‑use jobs by eliminating the need to switch between a mulcher and a separate grapple or thumb attachment. The operator runs both functions from the cab, adjusting drum speed and thumb position to match whatever material is being processed.
